Our disability and mental health services in Logan, Somerset, Nambour and the Gold Coast, support individuals to increase their independence and wellbeing. We work in partnership with clients and their families to provide tailored support.

Our services are for adults living with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and/or physical disabilities. We are an endorsed Queensland Government “Your Life Your Choice” Host Provider.  This is the first step towards the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) being established in Queensland. The range of support options varies based on individuals’ needs, where they live, and the type of funding available. Support options include:

Life skills training and education

We work closely with individuals to help them to live as independently as possible and be active members of their communities. We teach life skills such as using public transport, banking, enjoying recreation and social activities, communication, cooking and maintaining a place to live.

We offer supported accommodation options for people living with disabilities and mental health issues. These services help each individual to live a meaningful life in an environment suitable for their needs.

Respite and support for carers

We offer both in-centre and at-home respite, with additional support, information and activities for carers at our Somerset service.

Study points to mental health service gaps

Kingaroy_160x150A landmark study led by LCC recently explored mental health supports in the Kingaroy region of southern Queensland. A peer worker (a person with a lived experience of mental health issues) interviewed more than 60 people for their views of what was working and what was lacking. With one in five Australians living with a mental illness (and this is higher in the regions) this ‘grassroots’ approach mapped the issues and pointed to areas that need attention.
